Eesti Energia opens Estonia’s largest battery storage facility in Auvere, supplied by energy solutions system integrator Diotech Grupp

On Wednesday, Eesti Energia opened Estonia’s largest battery storage facility in the Auvere industrial complex in Ida-Viru County, which supports the stability of the region’s electricity system and alleviates high peak electricity prices for consumers.

The 26.5-megawatt capacity and 53.1-megawatt-hour battery can participate in both the power exchange and other energy markets to ensure security of electricity supply. The investment in building the battery storage facility amounts to 19.6 million euros.

“The Auvere battery storage project was unique for us and the work schedule was quite tight at times. However, it is clear today that we were able to complete everything we agreed on on time and with high quality. We certainly gained a lot of unique know-how from the Auvere experience for future projects, with which we can also contribute to the development of a controllable energy storage network in the Baltic region,” said Mart Moora, member of the management board of Diotech.

We would like to thank the engineers and project team of LG Energy Solutions, as well as the inverter manufacturer Power Electronics, controller software developer CGI and the electrical engineering team of Enefit Solution for the successful and extremely thorough cooperation.
