Estonian renewable energy solutions pioneer Diotech appoints new CEO
Raivo Videvik has taken on the role of CEO at Diotech, with the aim of strengthening Diotech’s position as a systems integrator in the Estonian energy solutions market and preparing for expansion into foreign markets.
Diotech is the first systems integrator in the Baltic region to successfully enter the grid-scale battery market. For example, by early 2025, Diotech will supply a 53.1 MWh LG battery system to Eesti Energia’s Auvere industrial complex. This system, along with its control solution, will help increase the use of renewable electricity and ensure more stable prices for end consumers. The system will be operational by early 2025, coinciding with the Baltic countries disconnecting from the Russian power grid.
“To enhance Diotech’s capabilities in offering energy services at grid scale, as well as for industrial and residential solutions, we have decided to expand the leadership team. A testament to this is the addition of Raivo Videvik, an experienced and strong leader, to our group,” said Mart Moora, one of Diotech’s founders.
“Our goal as a company is to reduce excessive electricity consumption and accelerate society’s transition to carbon-neutral energy solutions. In today’s geopolitical situation, where we are disconnecting from the Russian electricity system, Diotech’s expertise and capability are unique,” said Raivo Videvik.
According to Videvik, Diotech has undergone significant development and has grown into a quality leader in the sector, with a team possessing specialized competencies: “Today, we are increasingly strengthening our position as a systems integrator and offering comprehensive renewable energy solutions that not only improve energy efficiency but also allow consumers to participate actively in the market and adjust their consumption according to real-time prices.”
By developing lighting, energy, and resource-saving solutions, Diotech has built more than 1,000 solar power plants, including converting over 100 of these into controllable power capacities. The large-scale battery project at Eesti Energia’s Auvere facility, won by Diotech, will bring top-tier energy storage systems from South
Korea’s LG Energy Solution to the Estonian market. This provides a strong starting position for future projects, with Diotech establishing close collaboration with LG’s European division. “One of my priorities in this new role is to enhance both business and retail sales, creating comprehensive solutions that cover the entire system,” noted Videvik.
Founded in 2014, Diotech has grown into a group of companies with an annual turnover of approximately 25 million euros. In addition to the parent company, Diotech OÜ, the group includes subsidiaries such as Diotech Electric OÜ, Diotech Nord OÜ, and Solar Wheel OÜ (Sunecor), as well as operations in Latvia and Lithuania.
